Thoughts: Slow, strange and completely absorbing. What stayed with me most was the atmosphere of the Zone - a place that feels simultaneously physical and psychological. Tarkovsky gives everything time: water, ruined buildings, faces, silence, movement through the landscape.
I found myself thinking less about what the Zone actually is and more about what each person brings into it - desire, fear, hope and doubt. It feels like a film about searching for something without being certain that finding it would actually make you happy.
